LAMS Overview:
Laboratory Animal Medical Services (LAMS) is responsible for husbandry and veterinary care of all vertebrate animals on the University of Cincinnati (UC) campus. LAMS is committed to providing high-quality animals and services to meet the needs of the researchers. In addition, LAMS is responsible for assisting researchers in model development, animal usage, humane animal treatment, and compliance with University policies and procedures and governmental regulations.
LAMS is accredited by the Association for the Assessment and Accreditation for Laboratory Animal Care, International (AAALAC). LAMS is also licensed through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspections services (APHIS) and meets Public Health Services (PHS) standards and regulations.
Over 86,000 square feet of animal housing space in 9 facilities consisting of over 160 animal holding rooms and 50 plus procedure rooms can house animals from rodents, rabbits, swine, ruminants, dogs, cats, aquatics, and other species.
